Design

The Nespresso C100 Essenza, like other Essenza models, has a semi-triangular shape and features a black and titanium gray exterior. Unlike other espresso machines you may find, the Essenza doesn’t have knobs, digital displays or a frothing wand. It’s simple, which is part of its charm and functionality.

Not far from the top is the single spigot that extends outwards. Below that, you’ll find a platform drip tray that holds your shot or demitasse. On either side of the spigot are the green “Coffee” button and the red “Power” button. That’s about it for the exterior.

The practical, modern and compact design fit nicely on your counter without the need to hide it away when not in use.

Usability

What the Nespresso C100 Essenza lacks in quantity of features, it makes up for in quality and function of the features. The capsules are easily inserted into place and the eject semi-automatically into a collection container when they’re spent. Home Espresso Machine Types

Super-Automatic Espresso Machines

The super-automatic type is the one that will require the least effort from your part. They brew the perfect cup of espresso from a simple press on a button. Super easy to use, they integrate a coffee grinder to  automatically grind to the finesse you want. Then they automatically measure the amount of coffee needed, tamp the grounds and brew the different coffee style you may want. They are really the simplest to use machine as they do everything for you. They are also generally the most costly. With other machines you still have to use a separate grinder or have it ground by your favorite coffee merchant, fill the basket yourself, tamp it and clean it after each serving.

Semi-Automatic Espresso Machines

With these espresso makers, you will almost get all the steps automated. This may be a great option to consider because you have more control on your coffee taste. A semi-automatic espresso machine contain a pressure pump of course and temperature control for more precision. But you decide when to activate the pump and when to stop it. The machine won’t do it for you but that’s not a bad thing. This is something a lot of people like that allows more control.

Steam Espresso Machines

As their nam suggest, these machines brew espresso with steam. They force water by pressurizing steam though the coffee grounds. These are generally the entry ticket in the world of espresso drinking. They are more compact in design than automatic machines and their price is quite affordable. However, water temperature can’t be controlled, or much less than with the other machine types.

Single Serve Brewers

DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM 23.450.SL is another spectacular DeLonghi automatic espresso machine. Cappuccinos and lattes are made easy with the digital menu system. The digital menu system which is found in the full size machines is only one of the many features found in the more compact machine. Its size provides up to a 77% of energy savings. The savings of energy does not change the wonderful aromatic and taste enjoyment that DeLonghi machines delivers consistently. The Magnifica S ECAM 23.450.SL is a magnificent little machine that produces big taste.

It also differs from the SL in that it has a rotary dial and push buttons instead of a touch screen. The push button and rotary dial is a definite plus to many. The elegant shading and look is an esthetic plus making it somewhat unique among DeLonghi products. The entire coffee experience is kept up to DeLonghi par with features as Cappuccino System Frothing and bean grinding processes performed. This model is our favorite in this list for all the features it offer, the overall quality and design, the quality of coffee it delivers every time and its price. Under $1000 this is one of the best machine you can get. Highly recommended.

DeLonghi Maginifica S ECAM 22.110.SB – $714.95

The DeLonghi Maginifica S ECAM 22.110.SB is one of DeLonghi’s compact machines. This machine opts for the more conventional approach to setting your brew time and number of cups. The rotary dial and push buttons are welcomed by traditionalists opting out of DeLonghi’s ultra modern touch screen. These traditionalists have not optedout of a wonderful coffee experience. Many of the features found in the all inclusive Gran are present in this little dynamo of a machine. The patented Cappuccino System Frothing is one of its features. The wonderful taste of coffee is a feature that is always produced by Delonghi.

Delonghi Magnifica ESAM 3500 – $1,149

The Delonghi Magnifica ESAM 3500 is wonderfully simple machine. The Single Touch Hot Milk System is the foundation of its wonderful simplicity. The programmable menu simply adds to the process. The Magnifica has features found on the more elaborate models all of which are designed to keep the coffee experience about the beverage, not the process. No matter whether cappuccino or latte, the process before or after the making of the beverage will become a deterrence of the coffee experience The Magnifica ESAM 3500 preserves the coffee experience.

DeLonghi Magnifica ESAM 3300 – $645

The DeLonghi Magnifica ESAM 3300 should not be viewed as the basic model. There is nothing basic about any of the DeLonghi super automatic family of products. The Single Touch System that is seen on most of the DeLonghi espresso machines may be missing but nothing is loss in its capability to produce a wonderful tasting cappuccino. The Single Touch Hot Milk System maintains the level of taste and expected in the Delonghi machines. A warm cup, a fresh tasting brew, and ease of use and cleaning are all present and accounted for in the Magnifica ECAM 3300.

DeLonghi Super Automatic Coffee Machines – Worth The Price?

Well, every features in every DeLonghi Super Automatic coffee machines work very well. They all grind and brew coffee to your like. You just need to choose what coffee type you want to drink today and it will get you what you want. The frothing system is excellent. The materials are of high quality. So of course, the price reflects the size, performance and number of features each machine is equiped with. Is it worth to you is another story. When it comes to investing several hundreds, or even thousands of dollars in a coffee machine you sure don’t want to make a mistake. Hopefully the DeLonghi customer service is usually very responsive to problems, especially when you purchase one of these high end babies.

Not everyone can agree on a specific model, brand. Coffee is appreciated when you drink it, and every one’s taste is different.

To keep your budget under control, have an awesome looking machine, an almost silent grinder and all the features you need and most importantly that will deliver a great coffee, we again reformulate our warm recommendation for the DeLonghi Magnifica ECAM 23.210.B. At only $849, it’s $200 more expensive than the entry ESAM 3300 machine, BUT $1500 cheaper than the Gran Dama models, and it’s an awesome deal. It’s easy to use and clean, really a smart choice. The Magnifica ECAM have a compact design, and still provide an easy access to all parts. For example, adding water from the front is very interesting, no one likes to have to move a machine to remove properly the tank at the back, then put it back in place and set again the machine properly on the counter.

• Model names and colors: Some of these models are available in several color options. Their reference changes but these are still the same exact models. Fir example the EN520.R is for red, EN520.BL is for blue, there’s also white and silver.
• No cup warmer on EN520.
• No “Empty Tank, and “Full Capsule Container” indicator on all models except EN720.

What DeLonghi Nespresso Latissima Espresso Machine To Choose?

With a so small price difference between the smallest EN520, EN660 and EN670 models, there’s no reason to go for the bigger models, except if you need to save some sace on the counter. The little variations and additional features you can get on superior models are certainly handy and make the machine even easier to use, but with a Nespresso system, there’s really nothing too complicated to operate any of these machines.

If you can’t live with little indicators then sure you may need the EN720, otherwise the models under this one have everything you already need.

Now remember these machines ONLY work with Nespresso capsules so if you were looking for machines that can handle both capsules and ground coffee these won’t do the job.

The DeLonghi Nespresso Latissima espresso machines are certainly great machines for Nespresso capsules and if you were looking for effective and well performing machines to prepare various milked drinks and espressos, then these are great choices.

DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Espresso Machines

DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Piccolo Plus Coffeemaker – $85 – $95 on sale!

This little single serve coffee maker is an entry model using Nescafe capsules. Though very simple to use it is still capable of delivering gourmet coffees, lattes, cappuccino and even iced beverages. A 15 bar pump pressure will ensure an authentic espresso with a nice cream. You can acontrol the stenght of your drink with the control lever. The special thermoblock heating system this machine is equiped with means there is no preheating required, so you get your cup very fast without wait. The removable drip tray is also adjustable in height, so small and big cups can be used. And finally to save the planet, the DeLonghi Piccolo will get into auto energy-saving stand-by mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. It comes with a 6-count pack of capsules.

DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Genio Coffeemaker – $115-$119 on sale!

The Dolce Gusto Genio is very similar to the Piccolo above and the main difference is in the strenght control. While you need to use the lever with the Piccolo, the Genio lets you customize the strenght with the 7-level LED display controls. This gives you more control and makes the process even easier. Otherwise, it really has the same features and also comes with a pack of capsules. Both above models have a 21-ounce water reservoir.

DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Circolo Coffeemaker – $149

The Circolo has a circle design, but it doesn’t make it very different from the previous two machines. In fact, it uses the same 15 bar pump pressure, thermoblock heating system for fast and hot brewing, height adjustable drip tray. Just like the Piccolo, you control the strenght of your drink with the custom control lever. You just need to slide a capsule in to make espresso, cappuccino, lattes or iced drinks.

Notable differences: it turns into energy saving mode after 20 minutes of inactivity and the water reservoir has a 32-ounces capacity. It’s available in black or white colors and comes with a 12-count pack of capsules.

DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Creativa Plus Coffeemaker – $199

You may want to see this one in red too. The Creativa Plus, as we mentioned in the introduction, will be an upgrade of previous models. Here the technology used is the same, you will get a 15 bar pump pressure in addition to the heating system present in other NesCafe Dolce Gusto epresso machines. The difference is in the strenght control, here this model uses a LED display, and the water tank is of 32 onces so you can brew multiple drinks in a row before refilling it.

It has a very nice design and will be a very attractive addition to your kitchen. It comes with a 12-count pack of capsules ready to deliver some great coffee.

What DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Espresso Machine Should I Choose?

All are using the capsule system, and are very simple to operate. Just place a capsule and press the button. The differences are in the interface controls, either LED display or lever for strenght of your drink, and a smaller or bigger water tank. With a 15 pump pressure they all ensure the same quality of espresso. For cappuccinos, you will use two capsules, one for coffee and one for milk to get your drink. This needs to be taken into consideration for the long term cost of brewing. Hopefully big packs of various capsules help you to save money.

DeLonghi EC5 Steam-Driven 4-Cup Espresso and Cappuccino Maker – $37.40

This little entry machine is an easy to operate one, with a simple on/off switch. It can make 2 espressos at the same time with the double cup adapter. It is capable of making cappuccino and latte too thanks to the swivel jet frother. The large removable drip tray allows fro easy cleaning. If you’re looking for a cheap espresso maker and start drinking your first espressos you may consider this one. But at this price you can’t expect a durable and solid machine. Customers have reported the low quality and short life of some elements, so we highly recommend you spend your money on a higher end model that will not get you frustrated after a few months of use.

De’Longhi EC155 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker – $79.99

This is certainly one of the bestselling espresso maker in this price range. The DeLonghi espresso machine EC155 is a recommended one at this price. Compared to the previous one, it’s twice the price, but it is way more durable so you will have great espresso at the right temperature for years. It also makes capuccino and lattes. It also gives you the option of choosing to brew from convenient pods or ground coffee with the patented dual function filter holder. It has a pressure of 15 bars to extract the full flavor of your coffee. It can brew 2 cups simultaneously too.

De’Longhi BAR32 Retro 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker – $83.71

There’s only a slight price difference witht the EC155 espresso machine we mentioned previously. Honestly, there’s only a difference in design. The performance and features are exactly the same, so your choice for this one should only be determined by its look. We prefer the EC155 above

DeLonghi BCO120T Combination Coffee/Espresso Machine – $99.59

This DeLonghi espresso machine is actually a combo drip coffee/espresso/cappuccino maker and it may be advertised as a great machine to save space on the counter and a nice 3-in-1 machine. Well: save your money. This is really not worth it and you can certainly have a small drip coffee maker and a good entry espresso machine for the price. It isn’t very durable and users have reported the espresso simply stopped working after few months, or leaking problems right from the start. While the idea and specifications are actually very good (in theory), the product is far from it. You may want to click the link above to read the reviews ifyou were interested by this model, but we clearly don’t recommend this product.

DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker – $179.99

This machine deserves the look, not because it just save some sexy modern stainless style, but because it has some pretty features too and performs very well. This is an intermediary model in DeLonghi Espresso machines so you may want to consider this one too. It will of course get you cappuccino or lattes drinks if you want.

You can choose with ground coffee or E.S.E pods (Easy Serving Espresso) to brew your espresso. The preparation is made very easy and fast though we HIGHLY recommend you read the instructions as some people seem to not make it work properly. You can either prepare a single cup or 2 cups of espresso. It is also easy to clean with its large removable water reservoir. Finally, it is under $200 and at this price certainly one of the greatest espresso machine to get.

DeLonghi ECO310BK 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Machine – $248

A great style and size for this machine, it will also be able to brew from ground coffee or pods. The piano black finish makes it very stylish but it’s of course not its main point. It will make good espresso, cappuccino and lattes thanks to the patented Cappuccino System frother. Overall this is a very nice machine that should meet your expectations for the price.

DeLonghi Kmix 15 Bars Pump Espresso Maker – $269

If you’ve seen the DeLonghi kMix drip coffee maker, you will immediately recognize the kMix design on this espresso version. This is a very good espresso machine which offers some vibrant color options. It is a solid, durable espresso maker with aluminium exterior. It features a 15 bars pressure to extract a fuller flavor from your coffee, which you can add in grounds or pods. The swivel jet frother with adjustable steam emission will allow you to easily prepare a niceo cup of latte or cappuccino you deserve.

Delonghi EC860 Die Cast Pump Espresso Maker with Cappuccino Feature – $499

This machine can prepare can make espresso as well as a latte macchiato and cappucino with a 15 bars pressure. You will be able to use either ground coffee and Easy Serving Espresso pods thanks to the professional filter holder, which integrates a cream device. With the cup warmer button, your machine is always ready for use and you can get your cup of coffee at the best temperature. It of course include a traditional milk frother to create hot water and steam. The easy to use interface lets you push the button you want to choose your favorite drink, or save energy with stand-by function.

It is a very well made, solid, durable machine with a full stainless steel design. It integrates a removable 36oz water reservoir, removable drip tray with water level indicator. You can adjust the size of your cup up to 4″ and be safe for cleaning with the anti dripping system.

Some other interesting features include an automatic ringing system, an energy saving button which will save energy, the ability to choose your favorite drink with an easy to use interface. You can also adjust the size of your cup upto 4″. The machine is completely stainless steel made and include a removable water reservoir has a 36 oz capacity, a removable drip tray with water indicator, and anti drip system and water filter.

Certainly one machine to consider if you have the budget.

What DeLonghi Espresso Machine Do You Recommend

From the list above, there are various models that are worth their price and that you can invest on. though of course you will never find everyone enjoying coffee or espresso the same way or taste, there are decent, durable and well performing machines for what you pay for. There will be always difference in performance, style and durability and this will be true for all models for every brands.

Now, considering the factors you should look at for an espresso machine, the DeLonghi models that are worth it in OUR opinion are:

EC155 15 bar pump espresso and cappuccino maker: a great deal at this price, the right DeLonghi espresso machine for the first time espresso drinkers and quite a good quality for less than $80.

Others around $200 and above. We like the kMix and this is certainly an espresso machine that you can purchase with satisfaction. The other ECO310BK and EC702 are not bad machines and they even share features but they’re not built the same way.

The EC860 is almost $500 and if you have the money to invest then go for it if you like its features, but you shoud know there are tons of other machines at this price too. Also know if you want to use exclusively ground coffee or pods or if you think you will use both.
