Time for some more top espresso machines, this time we’re going to check out the best espresso machine under $500. We have to admit first, not so many products fit the $300 – $500 range in terms of variety of products. And if the lower price ranges we already went through revealed that the pod compatible espresso machine by Nespresso and traditional espresso machines by DeLonghi were the clear winners, this time… both brands are going to win for the same models.

Indeed it seems the best sellers for the best machines under $500 are the DeLonghi Nespresso Latissima espresso machines. These are some really interesting models by DeLonghi that integrate the Nespresso capsule system. Another interesting point about these products is they are now really close in price, the smallest EN520 is priced just under $400 while the EN660 and EN670 are priced just a little over $400.

Sharing the same features, this is something you should know about those machines that will have more or less capacity and features, but are built with the same core technology: the Nespresso Capsule system and its 19-bar pressure pump. The Latissima will allow you to easily prepare cappuccinos and lattes too, with a single touch button. No need to remind you these are of course super easy, convenient and fast to use. Just slip in a capsule, and press the brew key.

Best Espresso Machine Under $500

If we had to give a top 3 for the best espresso machine under $500, that would be this selection:

DeLonghi Lattissima Plus EN520 Nespresso Capsule System $387 – $395

Breville ESP8XL Cafe Roma Stainless Espresso Maker $324.95

Gaggia 14101 Classic Espresso Machine $387.85

The Breville Cafe Roma above is a really nice machine, and many people enjoy it. It will be recommended to those who like preparing espresso the authentic way, without capsules or any pod of any sort. It has a milk frothing system too, and a 15-bar pump. A very well performing machine which can be yours for under $330. If you like the whole stainless steel design of things, that’s one to have a look to. (You can also read our Breville Cafe Roma Review)

To complete our selection, these are some nice players in this price range, some we mentioned earlier in this article.

DeLonghi EN660.R Nespresso Lattissima Single-Serve Espresso Maker $407

DeLonghi EN670.B Nespresso Lattissima Single-Serve Espresso Maker $327

Breville BES830XL Die-Cast Programmable Espresso Machine $399.99

Looking at the list above, it seems not only these machines are under $500, they are more likely under $400 for the most part. In our next article we’re going to see what are the best espresso machines under $1000!

In this article we’re going to see what are the best espresso machines under $300. As you’re going to see, we will find again the major players of the lower price range models we already featured in our previous articles. So without too much suspense, these are the best espresso machines under $300.

As you can see again, we are featuring both a DeLonghi and a Nespresso machine as our two top picks for espresso makers under $300. Again, this has to do with you in mind, he end user. Are you going to prefer the super easy and convenient pod compatible Nespresso Citiz D120 or use the coffee grounds of your choice in the DeLonghi kMix espresso maker?

(We have reviewed both: CitiZ D120 review and kMix espresso maker review)

Best Espresso Machine Under $300

The DeLonghi kMix espresso maker has a great design with its flashy color options. It’s made of sturdy and durable materials and will fit most people in their quest of a well performing espresso machine at an affordable price. Well worth your money if you ask us. And we have to add that not only you can use coffee grounds, you can also use convenient pods, thanks to the patented dual function filter holder. Well thought.

It has a 15-bar pressure pump, which is the required standard in espresso machines to deliver a nice coffee aroma into your cup. You will also be able to prepare cappuccinos and lattes easily, since it integrates a swivel jet frother. Since it’s a compact machine, you will save some space on the counter.

We really feel Nespresso makes the best pod compatible espresso makers, the CitiZ D120-C120 is the most advanced, or complete should we say, of all they are offering. It is, just like others, ultra easy to use, if you can slip in a capsule and press a button you’re done. It is heating quite fast so you don’t have to wait a ton of time before you can enjoy your cup. of espresso. It has an automatic flow stop as well as energy saving mode. It also integrates a height adjustable cup support for your various cup sizes, and the used capsule container.

The 19-bar pressure pump is also very powerful and will get you some tasty aroma drink every time. But of course, what makes this machine a great deal is that it also integrates the Aeroccino! The great milk frothing device is indeed built in, and will allow you to prepare great lattes and cappuccinos.

Note: the Nespresso Aeroccino alone is about $100. The Nespresso CitiZ D110 is equiped with the same technology you get on the D120, it’s just that it doesn’t have the Aeroccino. If you don’t care about milk frothing, or if you already have one, or if you want to save a bit but still wants the same great feature of the D120 then go for the D110!

This post now will be dedicated to the best espresso machine under $200. The $100 – $200 price range is a great start to see some serious players. The espresso machine types are a little more various in types and it could lead to a debate between which type is the best one. However we think the best espresso machine has to be more of a tradition than innovation.

Best Espresso Machine Under $200

Thus, we have selected the DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker, priced aound $170. Just like the best under 100, this one is another DeLonghi machine. But this is a small victory. Indeed, though it is a best seller in this price range and quite a good value, it has several flaws according to some customers reviews. The major one being that it has some leaks problems, thus making it quite messy to use.

However, those who love it have great reasons to do so. It has the ESE pod system that allows you to use pods, in addition to the traditional ground coffee. You can also brew either one or two cups with the two size filters. You can prepare lattes and capuccinos with the frothing system so you still have some varieties in your hot drinks. It is a solid machine, mostly made of metal which many people will prefer over cheap plastic.

As we said, there are other machine types in this best espresso machine under $200 list, and here is our selection:

DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker $171
Nespresso Essenza C101 Espresso Maker $149
Nespresso Essenza C91 Manual Espresso Maker $129
Cuisinart EM-100 1000-Watt 15-Bar Espresso Maker $130
Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker $179.99
KRUPS XP5220 Precise Tamp Pump Espresso Machine $168
Cuisinart EM-200 Programmable 15-Bar Espresso Maker $199
Krups XP420050 Perfecto Espresso Machine with Precise Tamp $179.99
Lello 1375 Ariete Cafe Prestige Coffee Maker $199.99

Your Best Espresso Machine Under $200!

Now, you can see the other type of machine in this price range is pod espresso machine and Nespresso ones are actually the best. For the price you’re getting great value and great espresso taste. There are several machines of the brand that make it to the best espresso machine under $200. Either the Essenza C91 or Essenza C101 which are approximately the same machines with few differences with size and capacity, but not in brewing technology.

The list above will lead you to great deals on each of these machines, you will find super low prices and they all ship free. Great for your home or as a gift. There are much more of course than those on this list, but this is a great starting point you shouldn’t miss.

In this price range you can get great quality machines, but will have to decide if you want to use the traditional espresso machines such as the De Longhi EC702 Espresso Machine Esclusivo 15 bar pump, or pod compatible espresso makers such as Nespresso Essenza.

Today we’re going to answer the question: what is the best espresso machine under $100 to buy? Well there are actually not that many good espresso machine under $100, just a few that are worth the investment in terms of value and quality. You still want to have a great espresso don’t you?

So without too much drumroll, the best espresso machine under $100 is the DeLonghi EC155 15 Bar Pump Espresso and Cappuccino maker. At just around $80, you can’t get any better machine. It offers the features that will allow you to make a real espresso easily, and even a bit more.

Indeed the DeLonghi EC155 and its patented dual filter holder lets you choose to either use pods or ground coffee, a very convenient function that makes it so easy to use. If several persons are going to use this espresso machine, this is a good thing that it adjusts to personal preference. But there’s even more choice in your hot drink making since you can even prepare lattes and cappuccinos with the swivel jet frother.

This little machine is quite fast thanks to its self priming operation and even sturdy thanks to solid material such as stainless steel. It has of course a 15 bar pump pressure to extract a great coffee aroma on every shot you brew. And finally, just like advanced espresso machines have double boiler (for milk and water), it even has two separate thermostats to control water and steam pressure independently.

Definitely a great deal. No wonder why it’s the bestselling espresso machine on Amazon!

We of course researched for more options, so here’s a list of the top machines under a hundred bucks:

DeLonghi EC155 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker $82

Mr. Coffee ECM160 4-Cup Steam Espresso Machine $39.99

Capresso 303.01 4-Cup Espresso and Cappuccino Machine $36.95

DeLonghi BAR32 Retro 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker $93.50

DeLonghi EC5 Steam-Driven 4-Cup Espresso and Cappuccino Maker $39.99

Krups XP1020 750-Watt Steam Espresso Machine with 4-Cup Glass Carafe $59

Of course, you have to know that you got what you pay for, and the DeLonghi EC155 machine above is definitely what you can expect to be the best espresso machine under $100 at the time of writing this.

The outsider espresso maker under $30!

The Aeropress (check our Aerobie Aeropress review) is absolutely worth mentioning here. It’s of course a totally different way to make espresso, but it works and it works very well. You may need few trials to get the taste you want but the instructions provided will help you get there very fast.

Though it doesn’t have a look to any traditional espresso machine, we are including it here because well, it’s under $100, but also because it really does make great espresso. It’s actually under $30! You may even want to get it just for the fun and demonstrate how it works to your friends. That could be your “other” espresso machine, the strange one. Also know that this is a best seller too, with over a thousand reviews on Amazon, most raving about it. Here’s the nice Aeropress deal.

The Keurig B60 Special Edition is no exception to the quality of machines Keurig has become known for. Although their prices are mid-range, the value is apparent by the astounding number of followers Keurig has been able to gain and maintain. During this review, I’ve pointed out the features and benefits of this little, one-cup machine.

Keurig B60 Special Edition Review

Functionality and Design

Keurig is known for it’s simplicity and user-friendliness, the Special Edition is no different. The black body is highlighted with chrome and a stylish, bright blue backlit LCD display that tells you what’s going on and when during the brewing cycle. On the right top of the machine is the control panel; on the left is the removable 48 oz water container.

The Keurig B60 Special Edition brews your favorite coffee, tea or cocoa in under one minute, ideal for those of us who love our favorite beverages but don’t always have the time to make them! This little machine is also programmable, allowing you to save your favorite settings for the next time.

One of the coolest features of the Special Edition is the removable drip tray. Since this is a single-cup machine, it allows you to choose between 6-, 8- or 10-oz cup settings for your favorite drink. The removable drip tray allows you to put a taller travel mug under the spigot so you can enjoy your favorite drinks on the go.

The LCD screen is small, but it holds and displays a ton of information for you during the cycle. Under the screen are three cup-size buttons for easy choosing between your favorite cups.

Another little perk is the fact that the machine takes only up to 15 seconds to reheat in between brewing cycles. This is ideal, especially if you have company or live in a multiple coffee-drinker household.

K-Cup System

The K-Cup system is probably the most diverse, easy-to-come-by capsule systems available. With availability at your favorite grocery stores, home stores and big-box stores, you’re never to far away from refilling your stash.

The capsules aren’t limited to just coffee, either. Teas and cocoas are also available through the K-Cup system, ideal for families with different tastes — or if you’ve got an eclectic taste in hot beverages. With over 200 varieties and over 25 different brands, you’re sure to find your favorite taste from your favorite manufacturers. Brands include Starbucks, Caribou, Green Mountain, Folgers, Celestial Seasonings, Emeril’s and Bigelow, among others.

Features and Technical Data

Keurig B60 Special Edition Reviews

With over 1,300 reviews on Amazon alone, this little machine definitely has quite the following when it comes to coffee lovers. Out of those 1,300 reviews, over half were 5-star reviews, the highest possible. People tend to love Keurig and it shows throughout the reviews.

What others are saying about the Keurig B60…

“It works not just as a coffee maker, there are also tea K-Cups available and it also can be used to heat water in less than 20 seconds. [...] It is ridiculously easy to use. No paper filters needed. No grinds in the bottom of the cup. No wasting away of drinking coffee in the morning.”

“Finally, I found the easy – no clean up – fast coffee maker that I need for my busy lifestyle. The k-pods are awesome – I use it for coffee and tea, it’s so easy. Just put in the k-pod – push a button and you have your beverage. Great taste – no fuss – no mess or a chance of an exploding pod – a great size water reserve and a cool look. I’ve bought so many coffee makers over the years and I finally found a keeper.”

“If you are on the fence, I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed if you go for it, and I don’t believe you’ll ever own another coffee pot.”

Although many machines come with integrated grinders these days, many connoisseurs still prefer to have a top-of-the-line grinder to do their grinding for them. Many integrated grinders are so/so at best, as well, so many prefer the powerful, commercial-like grinders like the Rancilio Rocky grinder.

You Should See This Deal on the Rancilio ROCKY Grinder

Rancilio ROCKY Burr Grinder with Doser Review

Rancilio has been around for almost a century and has greatly expanded their line to include amazing machines for the home in addition to their commercial line. Like their popular Silvia espresso machine, the Rancilio Rocky has become a main feature in their line of products.

Design

With a small footprint, the Rocky won’t take up much room on your counter so you can leave it beside your coffee or espresso machine all the time. It’s also a nice-looking appliance that won’t clash with your kitchen decor — no matter what your personal style. The body is dressed in a light and dark grey complemented by a frosted blue color on the hopper and grinder. The structure itself is sturdy cast aluminum.

Within the machine, Rancilio housed several safety features to protect you, the user, from the moving parts. All moving parts are housed within the plastic paneling; A protection device is inside the bean container and secured with screws to protect your hands and fingers while filling the hopper.

The Rancilio Rocky has a full range of grind settings so you can get the perfect grind from various favorite beans. Espressos, American coffee and other drinks may require different settings. If you’re not 100 percent familiar, you may want to play around with the settings to find out which is going to work best for your favorite drink. Too course of a grind and you’ll get a lighter-tasting coffee without crema; too fine of a grind and you’ll get very strong-tasting coffee without crema.

Easy-to-Use and Maintain

The Rancilio Rocky is a simple-to-use machine that actually works. Simply set your portafilter in the cup holder/lever and push the “grind” button to get the beans to grind. The ground coffee will flow through the doser directly into your portafilter.

Every day that you use the Rocky, clean the outside of the machine and the ground coffee container. This will get rid of the left over grinds that could become stale if left in there. You should also clean the area of the doser under the coffee container after every use. Periodically, you should completely empty the coffee bean container and thoroughly clean the oily residue left over by all coffee beans.

Features and Technical Specifications

Customizable grinding: Grind only what you need directly into your machine’s portafilter

Die-cast aluminum clad in plastic for a sturdy machine

Precision indexing: Allows for a consistent degree of fineness

10 ½ oz hopper capacity

Entire range of grinds for different types of coffee drinks

Measures only 9 ½ by 5 by 13.8 inches

Weighs only 17lbs.

Rancilio ROCKY Burr Grinder with Doser Reviews

There was only one negative review on Amazon regarding the Rancilio Rocky. The user even commented multiple times that he thought he must have received a “lemon.” Other people love the Rocky and are thrilled with the grind settings and ease of use. Almost any coffee “snob” will tell you that you need a separate grinder in your setup.

What other reviewers are saying about the Rancilio Rocky Burr Grinder…

“The Rocky grinder is so incredible. Tons of horse power and a consistent grind. I grind for espresso and I can increment the grind size in slight increments according to how well the espresso is making it through the porta-filter on my espresso machine. Awesome way to fine tune and adjust according to the quality and age of the beans.”

“After much research I have found the ideal burr grinder”

“This is the best, quietest, coolest and nice looking grinder i’ve [sic] ever had.”

La Pavoni Professional PBB-16 Espresso Machine Review

If you’re like me, you enjoy an authentic Italian espresso. It’s not always easy to come by without taking a trip to Venice or visiting fine restaurants and coffee bars. The Professional gives you the opportunity to pull excellent espresso shots right in your own kitchen. We’ve provided the following review that highlights the features of this fine machine, along with consumer reviews.

Design

If something’s not broken, don’t fix it. That’s pretty much the story with so many of La Pavoni’s machines, and the Professional is no exception. The design is exquisite — both in style and the way that it works.

On the outside, the machine is decked out in chrome and sits on a black painted base — this is not the same for all Professional models, however, as some are decked out in different outer materials. The chrome is highlighted by black accents on the handles and knobs.

The lever is a strong presence on the machine as it sticks out over the spigots quite far. It doesn’t take away from the style, however, but adds to it in a way. There is a double spigot.

Technology

You control the espresso you’re making and even act as the pump as this a manual machine. You simply lift the lever to load the steam pressure then slowly lower the lever to pull your shot.

Inside the machine is a large, nickel-plated, solid brass 38 oz. boiler that will allow you to pull up to 16 2 oz. shots of espresso. You also have the choice of either a manual wand or automatic frothing adapter to steam your milk should you want a latte or cappuccino instead of an espresso.

The double spigot allows you to either make one or two shots at a time. The machine comes with single and double filter baskets, a measuring scoop and instructional DVD.

Features and Specs

Large 38 oz, nickel-plated, solid brass boiler allows you to pull up to 16 consecutive shots if you wanted to

Dual frothing system lets you choose how to apply your milk to your favorite milk-based coffee drinks

Internal Thermostat lets you easily monitor the temperature of the machine

Mounted pressure gauge lets you see the actual pressure you’re applying during the process

Varying brewing capacity allows you to make either one or two cups at a time

Single and double filter baskets come included

Measuring scoop for getting the ideal amount of grounds for your desired flavor

Measures 11 x 7 x 12 inches

Weighs 14 lbs.

La Pavoni Professional PBB-16 Espresso Machine Reviews

Unlike many machines, the La Pavoni Professional scored an amazing, almost-perfect 4.8 out of 5 stars. All the reviews on Amazon were 5-star reviews except one — it was a 3 out of 5. The one semi-negative review was regarding the machine being so manual and the amount of work involved in pulling the perfect shot. One reviewer had had the machine for 12 years and pulled approximately 17,500 shots and it was still working like a “charm.”

What users are saying about the La Pavoni Professional Espresso Machine:

“It makes the best espresso I have ever tasted… We are coffee snobs (roast our own beans even!) and this machine is perfection.”

“I have owned this machine (8-cup) for over ten years and everyday when I make my morning cappuccino I love it more.”

“The flavor of the espresso it makes is exquisite, and the milk frothing is fast and perfect every time.”

Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus Coffee Maker Reviews

Out of over 300 reviews on Amazon, the Cuisinart CHW-12 still scored a respectable 4.2 out of 5 stars. Well over half of the reviews were five stars. People absolutely love the convenience of this machine! The negative reviews, though rare, had a few issues though. A common issue is the hot water system it seems. Some people complain of a bad, almost-plastic-like taste from the hot water side. Others say the hot water side stopped working completely after an extremely short time.

This is a good value for money coffee maker, with a high capacity of 12-cup. It is very well thought and convenient to use. Now only you can decide if you can deal with the drawbacks.

What other users have to say about the Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus coffee maker.

“Finally, this thing makes a GREAT TASTING cup of coffee. I can’t believe I finally have a drip coffee maker that I enjoy using. Prior to this any time I wanted a good cup of coffee I would break out my French Press.”

“Pros: Everything!! In perfect working order and I was able to follow the manufacture’s instructions on hot water without any problems at all! Best cup of coffee I have had even counting my old Cuisinart!”

“Easy to set up, easy to use and cleanup. Has a setting for brewing a small pot (thank god I cant drink 12 cups every day) when needed. Programmable for having the coffee ready when you are.”
