The Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker is a small machine that takes up no more than 4.3- by 9.2-inches of counter space, yet delivers espresso comparable — or better — than at your favorite coffeehouse. We’ve taken a peek at the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker to see what it holds for the user and what drawbacks it might have.

Price: $229-$249 (<del>$299</del>)

Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker Review

Style

Style is something that sets Nespresso apart from competitors. There are slight variations in style between Nespresso Pixie C60 and Nespresso Picie D60, but the features and technology are the same. Upon first glance, you notice the chrome highlights in various places on the machine, most notably on the front. The drip tray and the area behind the drip tray. A chrome handle also sits in front of the spigot and adds an element of design not seen on other Nespresso models. The chrome sits nicely against the black portions of the device and makes whatever color you chose stand out even more. The available colors are red, aluminum, electric titan, electric yellow, indigo and steel blue. The aluminum, steel blue and electric yellow don’t have grooves in the side as the other colors do. Rather, they are simply solid.

Thermoblock and Pump

Nespresso has always done a fine job of making sure their machines have enough pressure to brew the perfect cup of espresso, create a pleasant aroma and leave a brilliant crema. The Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker is no exception and offers the same 19-bar pressure that is equal to or greater than some of the more expensive machines on the market today.

The thermoblock feature is also a Nespresso achievement. With the thermoblock heater, the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker heats to “optimal temperature” in less than 30 seconds. Waiting only 30 seconds for the right temperature is something all espresso makers wish they could boast, but sadly, many miss the mark.

Features and Technical Specs

Most technologically advanced and eco-friendly machine Nespresso has out to date

Thermoblock technology heats the water up in less than 30 seconds

Auto Power-Off feature automatically turns the machine off after 9 minutes of non-use, saving energy and helping to
keep you safe

Back-lit LED water level detection indicator light lets you know if you need more water

19-bar pressure pump delivers the ideal cup of espresso with a pleasant aroma and perfect crema

Used capsule container holds 10 spent capsules

Folding drip tray allows you to use a demitasse or macchiato glass

Programmable buttons allow you to easily make your espresso

Measures 12.8- by 4.3- by 9.2-inches

Weighs 9 lbs.

Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker Reviews from Users

Unlike other Nespresso machines that have astounding reviews, the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker gets a 3.7 out of 5 stars from the reviewers on Amazon. This is still a good average. Negative reviews point out that the design Nespresso went with on the water reservoir needs reworked and the overall design is not up-to-par with other Nespresso machines. Leaking was also a factor in negative reviews.

Positive reviews, on the other hand, tell the same story that other Nespresso machines get. The Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker creates the perfect cup of espresso and coffee drinks and the style is cute, fashionable and modern all at the same time.

So, even if it’s a good machine, the price is still up to $249 and for $10 more you can invest in the CitiZ 110 model (read the CitiZ C110 D110 review) which is a better option that we recommend over the Pixie.

Actual customers feedback:

“[...] now I am a Pixie drinker. Thank you Nespresso.”

“19 bar of pressure! You don’t get that much in most $1500 machines. WORTH EVERY PENNY!”

“[...] I couldn’t be happier and I’ve never had coffee this good at home.”

We have several reviews for 5 cup coffee makers that we recommend you to have a look to, but we have to admit there are much more 4-cup coffee maker on the market. Mr Coffee is certainly the brand that has tons of 4-cup coffee machines out there. Indeed you have a wide choice at your disposal. But what should you get considering the price difference is sometimes only about $5-$10 with all models?>

Here’s a list of few Mr Coffee 4-cup coffee makers , witht their price at the time of this being written (all these products are on sale at Amazon):

Mr. Coffee DRX5 4-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker – $22.22

Mr. Coffee TF5 4-Cup Switch Coffeemaker – $17

Mr. Coffee TF5GTF 4-Cup Switch Coffeemaker with Gold Tone Filter – $23.19

Mr. Coffee DR5 4-Cup Switch Coffeemaker, Black – $16.95

Mr. Coffee TF4GTF 4-Cup Switch Coffeemaker, with Gold Tone Filter – $17.85

Mr. Coffee DR4MC 4-Cup Coffeemaker, White $19.99

As you can see these are really close in terms of price and you may only need to look at…

the color,

switch or programmable coffee machine

… to make your choice. At around $20, , there’s actually no real reason to go compare everything. Mr Coffee makes some affordable coffee machines for everyone who wants a machine that will get the job done every morning, or whenver you want, either programmable or at the push of a button.

These are certainly not the high end machines that cost so much more so don’t expect the finest cup in the world and all the options and features that come with those.

From the list above, the most expensive at $23.19 is Mr. Coffee TF5GTF 4-Cup Switch Coffeemaker with Gold Tone Filter. This one features:

On/off indicator light lets you know when your coffeemaker is on or off

Removable filter basket lifts out for fast and easy filling and cleaning

Brewing pause ‘n serve lets you pour a cup of coffee while the coffeemaker is still brewing

Dual water window shows the amount of water in the reservoir for accurate filling

Gold Tone Filter

That’s actually a great deal, and we would recommend you >get this one.

Now we also wanted to not forget the espresso machines by Mr Coffee:

Mr. Coffee ECM160 4-Cup Steam Espresso Machine

Mr. Coffee ECM250 4-Cup Espresso/Cappuccino Maker

So, no, there’s no really good answer to what Mr Coffee 4-cup coffee maker you should buy. The budget for each is not a real factor when it comes to the final decision since the models are priced very closely. You may just want to check the little options or feature differences that can occur in this price range.
